Open Banking rollout is now underway for new MYOB customers
1 MIN READ We’ve now started the phased rollout of Open Banking to new MYOB customers in Australia. This introduces a secure, consent-driven way to connect bank feeds for SME clients. What’s changing? With Open Banking, eligible bank feeds can be connected in minutes rather than taking several days to activate. Connections are authorised directly through the bank, with client consent. What you’ll need when setting up bank feeds For accountants and bookkeepers, there are two key requirements when setting up bank feeds for your SME clients: A valid ABN recorded in the client file A nominated representative who is authorised with the bank for Open Banking access (this is a bank-level permission) Important notes The rollout is phased, starting with new MYOB customers Classic bank feeds process will continue in parallel for the foreseeable future Bank-level permissions are managed directly with the financial institution If you have questions about setup, permissions, or how this will work in practice, please post them below. We will be sharing further details in upcoming communications. You can also read the full details and FAQs here 👇 Learn more26Views0likes0CommentsA new era for everyone's business

13 MIN READ Hi everyone, please find all of the questions (and answers) from attendees at the last MYOB Discover event. Most of these questions were answered during the event. But for any that were not answered within the time available, they will be listed here now with answers. They are grouped to help make reviewing these easier and let you scroll to what you find important. Events/Demos/Learning Are there going to be product demos for people outside capital cities who can't make it to community meetups? We do have a number of product demos that happen throughout the year online. We'll make sure to be more vocal on when those are happening! I would have preferred if you demonstrated these features, rather than just speaking about them We have our March Community Meetups in 5 cities around Australia in March where these will be demonstrated Are you doing any PayDay Super webinars? Another webinar is coming soon - keen an eye out for comms about this Will there be more community meetups after march? Yes, in the 2nd half of the year we will have a mix of meetups and MYOB Engage events - look out for comms and newsletters Will there be any Partner Community Meet-ups in Northern Territory? Nothing planned at this time Meetings in 5 cities are fine for city dwellers. What about us in country towns. MYOB webinars demonstrating the products please. Great feedback! We do have a number of product demos that happen throughout the year online. We'll make sure to be more vocal on when those are happening! Software related What has happened with Silverfin development? We have continued development and we now speak to it as Client Accounting in Practice Compliance. Using the Silverfin platform but with MYOB experience in the reports and workpaper requirements. Can remittance advices be added to include as an attachment? Good idea, I will pass this onto the development team When will be able to see correct or incorrect ABN icons on customer cards like we can with suppliers? This isn't on the roadmap, but the feedback will be passed onto the product team. When will ABN icons on customer cards be available on AccountRight like it is on business version? This is already available in Customer cards in MYOB Business Practice BAS is great but the bugs need to be eliminated out of it to improve its accuracy. Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to pass it on to our product team! If you have any specific bugs that are causing you the most angst, please feel free to shoot them over and I'll pass them on When can BAS agents get access to Workpapers? This is not on the current roadmap Where can I find information on how MYOB Advisor allocates GL accounts numbers to the Advisor analysis? Once you have selected a client for the Advisor Report you can click on client settings and select Account Mapping For tax, can the worksheet be option for user, so user can input figures without worksheet if user wanted to? This capability is being developed now. We expect changes to apply to the deductions section of Individual return for the new tax year. With other sections shortly after. when can we use online client workpaper in Au? By speaking to our Sales team, you can get access to our online Client Accounting. We are constantly developing and releasing new workpapers each month. When will MAS and AMS be available native online? MAS and AMS will not be available natively online. Our replacement is a modern partnership we are calling Client Accounting, in our Practice Compliance platform (Blue cloud button from AE/AO) How do we access the Client Workspace & Client Accounting? Client Workspace is available through partner.myob.com either through AE/AO software or your partner program. Client Accounting (online) can be accessed by talking to our Sales team. Is it possible to connect a transaction in bank feed to a recurring transaction, which saves on split codes within a transaction? Allocation templates will do this well - check it out from the same are as create a rule - just drop down the selector to choose the allocation template How can MYOB inform you when a junior employee has a birthday and needs a pay rise to the next age bracket? You need to manually update the hourly rate or salary in the employee's record (Payroll > Employees > Salary and wages tab) on their birthday. Is it correct that MYOB Assist doesn’t allow photos to be saved to phone like capture app did? Assist does not have an option to save the photo to your camera roll. However, if you take a picture of the receipt or invoice with your phone camera (and not within the Assist app) you have the option to add this image from your phone photo gallery via the app. Any possibility of getting all MYOB AE ITR data rolled over into practice compliance in one go? We are exploring the options available to do this in one go. At the moment only 1 by 1 is available. What is the best way to upgrade a MYOB v16 file? Recommend to ring MYOB to organise a migration of your file to AccountRight online latest version Where is MYOB at with being able to link Xero files into Practice Compliance - Workpapers / Reporting? Live sync with Xero isn’t currently available in Practice Compliance. That being said, Client Accounting still supports Xero data through our CSV import workflow. It’s quick and simple, and many practices are using that workflow confidently today. Right now, our focus is on strengthening the end-to-end workflow from ledger to lodge. That’s where the biggest gains sit. We’re investing in making the overall process smoother, simpler and more connected, so the core compliance work compounds in efficiency at every step - not just at the point of data import. The intray/uploads when looking for invoices I have noticed it is becoming harder to find the correct invoice. You might search an amount that is total including gst. It won’t find the value in the search. But it will find the amount excluding gst. It should be able to find either $$ value. At the moment the In tray search is limited and may not always match when you use the GST‑inclusive total. A reliable workaround is to search using the ex‑GST amount, supplier name, date, or document number/reference instead. We agree it would be more intuitive to match on both gross and net amounts, and we’ve passed this feedback to the product team so it can be considered in future search improvements. Please bring back corporate admin. This is a low programming cost software for you. Corporate Admin has been retired and MYOB has exited development of that product, with Corporate Admin and Corporate Compliance workflows now supported by NowInfinity and other specialist providers. That means we’re not planning to re‑introduce Corporate Admin. We know some practices valued its simplicity and price point; our focus now is on strengthening our core practice and SME workflows and partnering with providers like NowInfinity to cover corporate compliance and company secretarial needs. Will source documents uploaded to MYOB Business now be included/retained in a backup of the data file? Source documents you upload to MYOB Business (for example via the Uploads or attached to transactions) are stored and backed up as part of the online file in MYOB’s systems. They are not currently bundled into the standard data exports or self‑service backups you can create yourself. If a client needs an archive that includes both ledger data and documents for audit or transition purposes, they can contact support and we can arrange a specialist export where appropriate. When I retrieve the balance sheet or the Profit and Loss statement in MYOB business, the Last year comparison is automatically selected, and I have to manually remove this. How can I permanently turn this feature off please? At the moment there isn’t a global setting to turn the Last year comparison option off by default. The best workaround is to run the report with your preferred settings (for example with Last year comparison unticked), then use Save as to create a custom version and run that saved report next time. We’re also passing this on to our product team as feedback that partners would like more control over default report filters. When will MYOB accounting support cash basis clients? Our core SME products already support cash-basis clients. In AccountRight and MYOB Business you can choose cash vs accrual as the accounting method in your GST/tax settings and then run GST/BAS and key financial reports on that basis. If you have a specific scenario where a cash-basis client isn’t behaving as expected (for example a particular report or export), log a support case with the file name and period so our team can review what’s happening. Has MYOB fixed the problem with the GST reports not matching in AR and Business? We know some partners have seen differences between GST figures in AccountRight, MYOB Business and individual GST reports. In many cases this is due to settings such as cash vs accrual basis, date ranges and filters, or manual journals being included or excluded differently. Where we have identified genuine defects, our product teams are working through these to bring the underlying report logic into line and reduce inconsistencies. If you’re seeing a specific mismatch, the best next step is to log a support case with the file name and reporting period so we can confirm whether it’s a configuration issue or something we need to address in product. Complaints I have from customers is the constant change in the presentation of the product. Are you leaving screens same.? We can’t promise there will never be further changes, because we do need to keep improving the product and meeting compliance and customer needs. What we are doing is standardising on a more consistent design so that future updates are smaller, incremental improvements rather than complete redesigns. Any significant screen changes go through customer and partner testing first, and we rely on that feedback to make sure changes genuinely make things easier, not harder, for users. Recurring customer sales invoices are created but not automatically emailed this was previously the case has something changed? Recurring invoices in MYOB are still designed to automatically create and send invoices on schedule – there hasn’t been a global change to remove that. What can change is the behaviour of an individual recurring template. Can you open the recurring invoice template you’re using and check whether: – It’s still set to automatically create the invoices on your chosen schedule, and – The option to email/send the invoice when it’s created is still turned on? If everything looks correct but the invoices are still not sending, let me know which MYOB product you’re using and whether you’re working in browser or desktop, and I can escalate for a file‑specific investigation Payday Super/Super Is payday super ready to use now? Absolutely - you can set up PayDay Super now in ARL & MYOB Business You can find more information here https://www.myob.com/au/support/myob-business/payday-super-support-hub How do we pay super for subcontractors through Paysuper? Set the contactor up as an employee with the employment classification of other, setup super fund and then add the super line only when preparing a payroll run where the contractor is included In payroll- Pay super , how do I I filter the dates of super payments schedules to eg last 6 months only. I seem to see 3 years worth data? In Super Payments you can toggle the date to newest to oldest which will show the last 6 months at the top of the screen Are there any plans for WPN employers be able to use pay super? Businesses with only a WPN can still use payroll in MYOB but must pay super manually until ABN support changes. Support for WPN is coming. With the rollout of Payday Super from July 2026, can we have more than 1 person authorise super payment? When the person is on leave without access to Australia mobile to authorise, it is important to have a secondary approving person. Currently authorisers need to have access to mobile, or change the authorisers before travelling. I will pass this feedback onto to the Payday super team AI related questions I understand the idea of AI learning, but if the AI is learning from the general public using it incorrectly instead of an accountant/bookkeeper altering correctly, it will learn wrong overall. It doesn’t learn from random public mistakes. It learns from confirmed behaviour and statistically consistent patterns. Anything uncertain stays as a suggestion — not an automatch. Should we delete rules given all this AI improvements in auto-matching? No, your rules are still important. The AI follows a hierarchy for decision making. The AI will check if a rule can be applied to a transaction before trying to find an AI match. What about when the transaction needs to be split. Perfect example at the fuel pump and those little goodies people buy that are not gst-able. Set up an allocation template to handle these transaction - available from Create Rule menu. With smart reconciliation if the transactions are reconciled or matched then you still need to go back & link source documents. That's correct, from the banking screen you can still attach documents and the AI BAS review will also highlight transactions that may need source documents. Can you please turn off auto transfer matching in business connected ledger feeds we have turned off auto matching but still MYOB continues to create TR transfer transactions. if you've already turned off "automatch to record" transfer money should be turned off as well. With the AI BAS will it check the BAS Sales report to the Profit and Loss? AI BAS will review the receipts to bank and flag as income for GST. Why can't AI auto reconcile Subsidiary ledgers to General Ledger and highlight in red difference to review. Some improvements are coming later in 2026. For AI coding, should we clean up old bank rules first or it helps AI to learn? AI will take into account rules as part of its matching logic - but if the rules are no longer useful it's a great practice to cleanse. Auto coding/matching that you call AI is a mostly useless overlay which has slowed down coding and creates errors which will cost clients a lot of money and only a matter of time before it causes insolvencies. We understand the concern — coding accuracy is critical and AI should never get in the way of good bookkeeping. In MYOB, rules and your existing behaviour are applied first, and AI only auto‑matches when there is a very high‑confidence match; where it’s not sure, it surfaces a suggestion for review rather than posting it for you. You can also control the feature (including turning smart matching off) if it’s not adding value for a particular client. We’re continuing to tune the models based on real‑world feedback, with the goal of reducing repetitive work while keeping you firmly in control of the final coding and review. Open banking Do we have move to the Open Banking that is coming? Can we stay with the bank feeds as they are? If already set up with bank feeds do we need to reconnect with open banking? Open Banking is coming very soon. All new clients will be able to connect from April, with connections available to limited banks in March. New clients will be able to connect their banks accounts in minutes! Existing customers will be able to connect from June. Clients will not be required to move in 2026 You can find more information here - https://info.myob.com/au/lp/pr/open-banking Administrative How do we find out who our account manager is You can find that out from the Partner Hub when you log into MYOB Practice Compliance https://partner.myob.com/partner-hub I set up AccountRight for my clients, and they want to know how to find their account manager. How else can i find out who their account manager is for them? Account Managers are available for our Partners - clients can use the general support channels, phone, email or MOCA chat (myob.com/contactus) Questions from NZ Please - we need some new features like this in NZ Thanks for your feedback. AI features like smart reconciliations, and AI business insights are already rolling out to selected NZ customers in beta When will NZ get AI Bas for our GST? Are there any changes for GST in NZ? What is the timeframe to roll out this BAS AI system, specifically the document auto matching (? name) to NZ? At this stage, we don’t have plans to introduce a similar AI BAS experience in New Zealand in the immediate term. We’ve made the decision to launch in Australia first so we can gather key insights and learnings, which will help us shape and refine the experience before considering a rollout in New Zealand. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as our plans evolve. When we will have cloud Practice compliance for NZ? Great question! Just to clarify - Practice Compliance is already available in New Zealand. The remaining module to come is Client Accounting. That’s on our roadmap. We’re currently progressing the Australian rollout, which will help shape the NZ release. We don’t have confirmed dates yet, but we’ll share timing as soon as it’s set. Is there any timeframe as to when client accounting online will come to New Zealand? New Zealand is very much part of our long-term plan for Client Accounting in Practice Compliance. We’re currently rolling out in Australia, and that work is helping shape how we bring it to NZ in the right way. We don’t have dates to share just yet, but it’s something we’re actively planning for and we’ll keep you updated. Can you turn off smart reconciliation? Yes you can from the 3 ellipses (...) in the bank feeds screen However, smart reconciliation learns from your coding, rules etc and needs time to improve. Giving it that time and knowledge of how you code transactions to categories is wise. When will MYOB add the facility to attach documents to Journals? This was mentioned approx 4 years ago and still has not happened. Currently attachments to journals is only available in AccountRight and there are no current plans on the roadmap for MYOB Business. Will these changes mean Fixed Assets will be removed from AO/AE and be available online? It is using the same assets technology that is being used by Statutory Reporter in AO/AE Client Accounting. So if already using that, there won't be a need to move them.Get your clients ready for change - Help them automate Super payments with MYOB’s Payroll.

Hi Our practice uses Accountants Desktop generated cashbooks and other spreadsheets for our workpapers. These can have macro's within the file to automate actions. We are unable to upload these files to MYOB Practice or vice versa from the client as it is not a supported file. Is there a reason why these types of files are not supported and if security is an issue, is there a way to make the file secure to use in MYOB Practice? Thanks LianeAdding and Asset and journal entry
Hi We have purchased a vehicle on hire purchase. I have tried to follow instruction through MYOB however the journal is not adding up. Can anyone explain the process to include adding a journal for a purchase so I can capture the GST and it all adds up at the end. Do I add the finance company and repayments to the journal or add this separately so it automatically takes each monthly repayment off the loan. I have set up a recurring transactions but not sure how to link it to the original amount of the loan. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Regards Marg
