DANCE, DOG, DANCE; SHORT FILM - Director of Photography and Finishing Editor
In 2025 Knock and Nash shot their third short film, with the intention of telling a story that appeared as if it was in real time, and therefore in one long take. This required various stages of planning for not only the actors, but also in terms of camera equipment and how it would move through the scenes in a way that would appear unbroken.

Technically, this film was Knock and Nash’s most complex one to date, with only Chris operating camera, the Sony FX6 was chosen instead of their usual URSA 12K to minimise weight, and to utilise the autofocus features; to limit the amount of work Chris had to do while also navigating doorways, camera movement and even exposure changes mid shot.

The film was very difficult to shoot but ultimately successful, and is currently in post production.

THE SKY SPREAD OVER EVERYTHING; SHORT FILM - Director of Photography and Finishing Editor
In September of 2024, Knock and Nash shot their next short film; but this time directed by theatre director Ellie Rose. Chris’ responsibilities were similar to Show Pony, with his primary role to handle the camera equipment, lighting and any camera movement, as well as working with Ellie to bring her ideas to life.

In post production, Chris’ responsibility initially lay with working alongside editor Elisa Cherene Holliday to ensure a smooth workflow from offline edit to finishing. Then in the grading and finishing process, Chris’ plans during the shoot came to fruition. The film’s theme revolves around alive characters and dead characters, with some scenes in the past and some scenes in the present; Ellie wanted the material to hint at this story arch and so the shots themselves were designed to subtly insinuate this. Which shots were which was displayed on the clapperboards so there was no guess work in post.

The film had a small premiere in September of 2025, with a very positive reaction by the audience.

SHOW PONY; SHORT FILM - Director of Photography and Finishing Editor
In 2023 Knock and Nash productions embarked on their first short film, written by accomplished writer Lee Mattinson and directed by Knock and Nash’s own Jordan Tweddle.

Chris’ responsibilities were first to choose and handle the camera equipment used for the film, alongside planning camera movement, lighting and any staff required for the shoot. Following the shoot Chris planned the edit workflow with experienced TV editor Elisa Cherene Holliday, before handling the finishing process of colouring in DaVinci Resolve, and ensuring all passes in edit, dub, grade and any VFX all came together as easily as possible.

TREASURE; SHORT FILM - DIT, Colourist, Finishing Editor
Having met Sean Healey at Emmerdale, Sean asked Chris to help on a short film he was creating, as he didn’t know the ins and outs of post production; and on a low budget, mistakes couldn’t be afforded. Chris was brought in to initially be DIT for the film’s two weekends of shooting, and then later on organise the entire post production workflow; as he had done for previous short and feature films.

Chris finished the film in early 2022 with director Sean, and DoP Chris Sowden advising on the colour and finishing touches, which after several weeks of work was shown at a private screening for the film’s cast and crew, which was very received. KNOCK AND NASH; ACTING SHOWREELS - Video Producer
In late 2020 Knock and Nash productions was founded, with the intention of training actors and providing them with bespoke acting showreels to use for their acting careers.

Chris was initially asked to consult on what equipment the company should buy to produce the showreels; with the limited budget they had. Having done this Chris was then asked if he could help in the finishing of the first showreels to speed up the process and build a workflow for Knock and Nash to use. With the first showreels being such a success, Chris was asked to come on board as a regular contributor to the Knock and Nash team, with Chris lighting, shooting and finishing off the subsequent showreels.

His work with Knock and Nash, resulting in Chris writing a guide for Resolve for others to use and learn from, this can be found on his blog.

SASHA AND THE SHADES; MUSIC VIDEO - Colourist
Having met Steven Owen and Matt French while working on Evie, they asked Chris to work on some music videos they had coming up with band ‘Sasha and the Shades’. Initially Chris did some consulting on issues the pair were having with the colouring and finishing process.

This quickly progressed into Chris finishing the first of the music videos, and later on colouring the second video; which included some visual effects work. This was Chris’ first venture into editing Comedy, which can be a challenge as it would need a particular rhythm; he took on the challenge and Stewart was really happy with the results. And the film’s first public screening was received really well by the audience.
