Yes, you read that subject right; there will be no BM meetup Easter weekend, 4/4. So come down this Friday, 27/3 or two weeks later for 10/4 for gaming from 5pm until 9pm.

If you’re not able to attend, check out our Instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/beyond_monopoly_york/) to keep tabs on what some people are playing. And if you are able to attend, feel free to tag us when posting pictures from a session as well!

BM this Saturday!

A return to our usually scheduled session on Saturday at the Bar Convent after the excitment of AireCon last week. Me personally, I’m still basking in officially becoming Capt’n Clever and thinking about other games that have fun conditions/rewards for the winners. Come play some games and find some fun rules from 10am until 9pm!

Beyond Monopoly Session This SUNDAY!

If you’re not attending Airecon this weekend, drive off any FOMO by coming to our adjusted session this weekend at the Bar Convent in York! We will NOT be meeting Friday but instead have the room booked for Sunday so if you’re looking for a fun Mother’s Day activity, bring your mom along and, remember, if it’s her first visit to the club, there’s no charge for attendance!

You probably won’t have time to organize a big beast of a game like Here I Stand, but our games collection has plenty of options for a lovely Sunday event.

Three stacks of games for sale by the club

A Little Spring Cleaning

Last week some of y’all might have seen a bit of a cupboard cleanout going on in our little corner of the Bar Convent in preparation for AIREcon (and, of course, to make room for new games).

The organizers are looking to rehome the below-listed games; let us know via email (bmyork@gmail.com) or by commenting on this blog (or through our WhatsApp chat) if you’re interested in any of the below for pickup at our session this Saturday, 7/3/2026, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. First come, first served, and prices are negotiable for BM members. We’ll do our best to keep this post updated with the current availability of the games.

Friday Evening Games

This is your reminder that we have an evening of fun planned at BM this week. Come along to the Bar Convent on Friday from 5pm and get your favourite games on the table with us!

Can you catch a Sniper?

BM!’s back at the Bar Convent this Saturday, and we have a long-awaited new addition to the club collection arriving too. Sniper Elite: Eagle’s Nest adds two new maps, giving everyone’s favourite Sniper (Jim) new places to hide and new objectives to complete. Come along and see if you can thwart him from 10am on Saturday. See you there!

Are you feeling lucky?

Friday the 13th. Unlucky for some, but not for you as it means you get an evening of fun with us at the bar Convent! Come along from 5pm for a good time, perhaps roll a few dice 🎲 and get lucky.

And lucky for me I got to attend the BM! AGM last night with the other club organisers and members. We discussed how the club’s going and some things we want to do over the year ahead. As always we’ll have the minutes available to share soon for anyone who wasn’t able to attend yesterday and we look forward to bringing some of the details to life for you all in the coming weeks and months. Watch this space…

But for now, one action I took was to remind you all that as part of our WhatsApp community we have a dedicated message channel for weekly reminders. I post once each week (usually on a Monday) to remind you of the next session. The messages are short and sweet (unlike the blog), and it’s kept separate from the regular club chatter. If you’d like to get the reminders but aren’t sure how, just ask an organiser at one of our sessions and we’ll help you out!

February Fun! (And AGM Reminder)

Hey everyone, it’s Games Officer Paul here, taking on blog duties for the month of February. I’ve got some great news for you: BM!’s on this weekend and you’re invited. The Bar Convent’s the place to be from 10am ’til 9pm Saturday 7th. See you there!

And a reminder that we have our AGM (which I believe stands for Awesome Gamers Meeting) next week, Tuesday 10th at 6:45pm. All club members are welcome to join us as we discuss the running of the club. If you have an idea, feedback, want to get involved in organising things, or just interested to hear what we have to say, get in touch with an organiser or drop the club an email to bmyork@gmail.com and we’ll be happy to share the meeting invite.

BM! This Saturday!

Hi everyone, apologies for the late post, but wanted to let everyone know BM is on this Saturday, 31st January, for our 5th Saturday special. Loads of great games as always so please come along. Also, there is an author signing and q&a in the Bedingfield room until 13:00, so we will ask for the usual whooping and hollering that comes with certain games to be in the Aspinal room, and the quiet, more sedate games to take place in the Gascoigne.

Additionally, just a reminder that we have our AGM on the 10th Feb. If you are interested in attending please get in touch.

Looking forward to seeing you all this Saturday, Mark

Meeting this Friday and BM AGM (people needed)

Hi everyone, just a reminder we meet again this Friday afternoon/ evening for more boardgames goodness. Just a reminder we have new games for 2026, including perennial favourite “The Gang” and new hit “Civolution”.

AGM news! If you’ve ever wondered how BM manages to run so smoothly*, wonder no more! It’s all down to the fantastic efforts of our volunteers who run the various parts of the club, and make curious decisions about what games to buy. If you’d like to get involved, either by telling us what’s working and what’s not, or by offering to help out in any way, our AGM is on Tuesday 10th February at 6:45pm. It’s online, so if you want to attend please just email us, or reach out on Whatsapp or anywhere else for a link to join.

BM this Saturday from 10

Hi everyone, we are meeting again this Saturday from 10, for our first Saturday BM of 2026. I know some people will be bringing new games along (I’ve got a small gift of the Norwegians Expansion for the club I’ll be teaching) so come along and maybe try some new games!

Also, for those who like old classics, Andrew Brown and John McCullough are running some Friedrich games at BM on 17 January. Everyone, including new players, are welcome to play a game or try part of a game. Friedrich is an elegant game about the 7 years war and usually takes 3-5 hours to play. The Rules can be mastered in 15 minutes. The tactics and strategies take a lifetime to master. York is hosting an international tournament (Friedrich UK26) in June. It would help if those interested e-mail John (jjj_mccullough@yahoo.co.uk) to book a place on the 17th but walk-ins also welcome (although places cannot be guaranteed to walk-ins).

Hope to see you all there!

First BM of 2026!

Happy new year everyone, hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, and got plenty of new games. Our first BM of 2026 is this Friday from 5pm until 9pm, in our usual place at the Bar Convent on Blossom Street. If you’re interested but have never been before than consider making a visit a resolution for 2026, if your interested at all in modern gaming then we’d love to have you visit.

See you soon! Mark
