Welcome to Threadbare, an open-source game where imagination, storytelling, and game development come together.

We built the foundation of the game world, and learners build upon it by creating quests, stories, and creative twists, making Threadbare both a game and a shared learning experience.

Threadbare Unstitched

Threadbare is an open-source narrative adventure where players become the Story Weaver, tasked with restoring a world being consumed by the Void - a force that devours stories, memories, and imagination.

The game's world, characters, and quests are built collaboratively by a global community of learners and developers. Through GitHub, Discord, and structured learning pathways, contributors create the narrative experiences that other players explore. It's a game that grows with its community.

Built in Godot and designed for all skill levels, Threadbare offers pathways from browser-based play to full development contribution. Whether you're exploring completed quests, creating your first story arc, or mentoring new contributors, you're helping weave the living tapestry of Threadbare's world.

On their journey,
players will:

  • Navigate the Void - the nothing that remains when stories are forgotten.
  • Face Voidborne creatures that consume language, memory and culture.
  • Solve puzzles to open new regions and stories.
  • Collect artifacts that reflect diverse and beautiful cultures.
  • Reweave the world, one story at a time.
