Spot your emotional triggers before they take over

You can't always control the trigger, but you can always control what happens next. We've all been there. A customer says something rude. A coworker rolls their eyes. You're already running behind, and suddenly you feel it—that spike of frustration, your jaw clenching, and anger, or even a total shutdown. That's your emotional trigger kicking in. Common triggers that I've seen is one: being disrespected, being yelled at. Maybe it's being micromanaged. It's that split second when your patience flies out the window. And no, you can't always avoid it. But you can learn to spot it. And here's the thing. It's also a moment to choose how you're going to respond, because in that moment, you still have the power—the power of choice. Step one: get curious.
