Katherine Chernyak is in the advanced Performance studies program at Bard Conservatory. She has performed in venues like Carnegie Hall, MET Museum, and National Cathedral in DC. Katherine has participated in festivals such as the Roundtop Institute, the Bach Institute, Bowdoin International Festival, and the National Orchestral Institute (NOI). She has played under the batons of Marin Alsop, Joseph Young, and more. She has played for members of Pacifica and Jasper Quartets, and has worked with composers like Joan Tower. Katherine was a youth mentor at NOI, teaches locally, and is currently a mentor of Bard’s Music Mentorship Initiative. Katherine has been concertmaster of ensembles like NOI’s conductorless orchestra, Bard Baroque Ensemble, and the East West Ensemble, performing in the China Now Festival and on their debut tour to China in summer 2025. Katherine studies with Luosha Fang and Melissa Reardon, and received her bachelor's in biology and violin performance at Bard.
