Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris and Josh Shapiro are all in a tight race to be the next 2028 Democratic Nominee. However, between them all, Ocasio-Cortez is undoubtedly the best pick if America wants to finally move forwards.
Earlier this year, Trinity Hall college at the University of Cambridge faced backlash for its policy to increase outreach to elite private schools. Whilst some defend such a decision as a valid response to declining applicants, others express shock and anger, describing the policy as a ‘slap in the face’ for state-educated students.
Early 2020 saw an outbreak of violence in Delhi, India against an amendment to the Citizenship Act 1955 which was felt to be exclusionary of the Islamic faith. The act came with deeper embedded national fears and consequences still felt over 5 years later.
It is predicted that over 6 billion people will watch some of the tournament, making it one of the largest sporting events in history. But this event also poses a huge political risk, and a boycott would be the best thing for all of us.
