Tarot Town is my answer to the question "What if, instead of being trapped in an MMORPG like you usually see with the trapped-in-a-game trope, you were trapped in a farming sim, like Stardew Valley?" Tarot Town tells the story of Seojun Fawkes-Yoo, a 30-something Korean-American trans man experiencing PTSD, while he attempts to save his mother from cancer. In order to get enough money to fund her treatment, he agrees to join The Tarot Town Project--a 2020 psychological experiment placing 78 people inside of an advanced VR game called Tarot Town. Naturally, things don't go according to plan. Tarot Town (the webcomic) will be available for free on Webtoon Canvas and Tapas Community, when I begin publishing it. By supporting this Patreon, you help me justify continuing to not sleep in favor of working on this project, which has been in the making since 2019. (I have a day job, you see.) Are there other projects? Tarot Town is my current focus, but I have other original IPs kicking around in my head, too. Content related to these other projects will also be released here. The largest among these other projects is a collection of disparate stories that I call "The Khra-nicles." The Khra-nicles are set in a world called Khra that I began developing way back in 2004. Khra is a fantasy setting featuring a variety of humanoid species, and its stories tend to have more of a save-the-world bent compared to TT's highly personal stakes. Most of my other IPs are fantasy or sci-fi in some capacity, but the flavor ranges from the apocalyptic to the traditional D&amp;D-style to modern and all the way back around again. I try to do at least one uncommon thing in any given setting, though. But who are you? I'm Trystan (Tryst for short), a 30-something gay trans man living with a big orange cat named Lynel in the Greater Boston Area (TM). I've been telling stories and drawing throughout my life, but I was particularly prolific during my teen years, which is when The Khra-nicles began development. (In those days, I used a different handle online.) However, when I went to college for creative writing (and also book publishing), my drawing activity dropped off as a side-effect, leading to a nearly decade-long hiatus in which my creative output was centered on prose. After graduation, I was fortunate enough to seize an opportunity to enter the game industry, which is where I've stayed. I've been working in Quality Assurance for eight years, with my own projects occupying my free time on-and-off. I had the idea for Tarot Town in 2019, but it was 2020 and COVID-19 that kicked both Tarot Town and my gender journey into high gear. Since then, I've been working on TT pretty much nonstop.
