Using AI to create training material

As you might have guessed, I think learning's pretty important and the fact that you're doing this course indicates that, well, maybe you do too. You asked for a prompt that helps you create training material. Now, there are a few ways I could have interpreted this, like you'd prefer to learn from a soulless bot than from me, but of course that's not the case, because bots can't do a decent Scottish accent yet. So I've created a prompt that takes information that you upload and it converts it into a course plan. And if you're happy with the course plan, it converts that into individual lesson plans. And if you want to take it even further, you could continue your conversation to get help creating resources and scripts for those lessons. The information you upload is up to you. It could be your HR onboarding guidelines. It could be some academic papers, or what I'll be doing, a couple of chapters of a book. I'll be uploading a chapter of one of my books, "How to Get to Great Ideas," because then I'll know whether it's done a good job or not. Before you hit that Return key, you should also describe your audience and be clear on what kind of learning this is for. Is it an in-person class, an online session, on-demand video, or something else? Now I do all of these, and they each require a very different approach. So this is a two-stage prompt. The first stage focuses on planning the course itself. In this section, it breaks down the information into lessons, focusing on a single learning outcome for each lesson. It is going to focus on making the information engaging and memorable, otherwise, it won't stick in the learner's brain as it passes through. Then it provides a list of resources for the course and even gives you advice on any information it thinks that might be missing from the input material. Once you're happy with the course, you have the option to expand on each of the lessons, and that is the second stage of the prompt. It will expand on each lesson one at a time, giving you a title and a short summary. It will give you an outline agenda. It can be very helpful here to tell the AI how long you want each lesson to be, if you feel that it's too much or too little for the time. It also provides you with a list of research and preparation work that you should do before each lesson and suggest an assignment to help the learner understand how to apply and retain the knowledge. This prompt does a lot, and it's useful for people who are passionate about learning, educators like me, and even people creating learning programs in the workplace.
