Developing the program plan

- Planning program activities involves considering when the projects will happen, how and when to do communications, transition, assurance, resource management, benefits management activities, as well as other activities all happening over a very long period of time. It's a pretty busy environment. You'll need to be able to plan, track, and control all these activities, so for that, you'll need a program plan. It's created by the program manager during the definition phase of the program lifecycle, usually after the target operating model and the benefits have been created. During the delivery phases, the plan is used to track and control progress and is updated regularly to show this. There'll also be phase reviews carried out, and the updated plan will be essential input for decision making at these reviews.
