- [Instructor] When we create materials in MAYA, we may need to go beyond basic color, and that's where we can add things such as bitmaps and textures to our objects. So let's go ahead and select the sphere. And as you can see, it's got a very basic material. So if we hop over to the attribute editor, that material's called solid surface two. And so we have a base color here and we can change that color if we want. Now, if we wanted to go a little bit further than just a solid color, we need to add either a bitmap or a texture to it, and we can do that by clicking on this little checker box to the right of this. Now you can see that most of these attributes have checkers to the right, so you can affect a lot of different attributes with materials and textures.
