From the course: Learning LinkedIn Recruiter
AI-assisted messaging
- [Instructor] When you're ready to reach out to a candidate, LinkedIn recruiter makes it easy to send a personalized message, even if you're not connected. These messages go directly to the candidate's inbox, helping you start the conversation quickly and professionally. To send a message, click the envelope icon that's associated with the candidate's name in your project or search results. Here, I can see Kate inside of my pipeline, and to the right of her name, I see the envelope icon. I want to go ahead and click on this envelope icon. This opens the message window where you'll see a snapshot of the candidate's profile on the left, including their summary, experience, skills, and more. On the right is where we can create the message. Now, first, you can adjust a few of the settings. At the top right, you can adjust the Privacy settings. You can decide if it's Private to you, Public to project members, or Public to everyone in your organization. Next, for the initial message, you can decide when you want to share it and how. In this case, I have it set as an InMail to send immediately. I could put Later, and schedule that, but I'm putting it now for Immediately. Now, you could also select a template if you have one. In this case, I don't have a template I want for this message though, so I'm not going to use one. Now, here, I need to add a subject line and then craft the message. You can either do this manually or use the AI-assisted messaging tool to help draft it. To use AI, you can click on draft with AI. LinkedIn will then create a personalized message using your job post, your recruiter profile, and details from the candidate's profile. You can edit the message, adjust the tone, and personalize it further. Here you can see that although this message was created and it is personalized to Kate, I can go in here and make any changes that I want. I could do this. I could use the rich text editor to make things bold, italics, and more. Now, another thing is if I click this icon down at the bottom showing settings, it opens up a tab on the right that allows us to decide what we want to customize in this message. Right now, it's using all of these factors. But if I didn't want it to say something about having mutual connections, I could click this one to turn that off. Maybe I didn't want to mention that they follow our company, so I'll turn that one off. Now, I also could go in here and put some information about our company or add in other customized info. And when I'm done, hit draft again. And when I do, AI will create another draft. Now, if you don't like this one, you can either change it manually or go down to the bottom and click the redraft message and it will redraft it again. Then down at the bottom, you can decide if you want to have a follow up message or not. If you do, you can type your message in here and then click up at the top to decide when you want to send that followup message out. Once everything looks good, down at the bottom right, you can go ahead and click on Send to send out that message. Whether you use AI or write your own message, aim to keep it short and specific. Let the candidate know why you're reaching out and what you'd like them to do next. In the following video, let's explore how to scale your outreach by sending personalized messages to up to 25 candidates at once.
