The digital twin
- [Instructor] The software defined product is both the heart and the brain of the IoT product, also referred to as the digital twin. It is the virtual representation of the physical products functionality and in this course, when I say product, I mean discrete product, a system, or an environment. The software defined product is one of the four main components of an IoT product and sits between the sensor data coming from the hardware defined product and outside data coming from external systems. All three are connected by the network fabric. The software-defined product consists of two components, the AI model and the application. It is a simulation of how the product produces value. This is not to be confused with the simulation of how the product looks. Instead, it's all about simulating value creation. We abstract the physical into the software, which provides flexibility and allows us to innovate our IoT product much easier than if it was just a physical product. For example…
