- [Instructor] Getting your data into a valuable form isn't just a technical exercise of data translation, it's a data governance one too. You're part of your organization's ecosystem in ensuring accessible, usable, secure, and trustworthy data. Data governance starts at being General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, compliant. GDPR compliance includes, one, ensuring that data is collected and stored securely, two, informing individuals of how their data is being used, and three, allowing individuals to see, amend, or delete their data. Those first three compliant directives are defensive measures that strictly adhere to regulations. They're also more protective approaches to help prevent breaches. The vast majority, nearly 80% of companies, are working on fully implementing these defensive strategies. GDPR compliance also includes offensive measures.
