- Using live streaming with YouTube is a great way to engage with your audience. Now, streaming with a YouTube mobile app is super simple, but what I want to focus on is the more professional options that you can do from a desktop or laptop computer. And this is an area of YouTube that keeps changing quite a bit. Let's start by walking through what you need to do to enable streaming, and it all begins with setting up an encoder in order to live stream. It's important that you download and set up an encoding piece of software. This software allows you to connect a web camera or professional hardware devices to make them ready to stream. You'll also need to make sure that you've enabled this within your channel. I'll show you how to do that in just a moment. Once enabled, you could then click the Create button in the upper right corner to go live.
