We just crossed the 100th GitHub issue threshold in our work on the W3C's Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSGs for short, because we love acronyms). Recommendations in the spec are evolving quickly based on an incredibly passionate group of smart volunteer technologists, designers, developers, content strategists, and business leaders. Next version will come out in September for horizontal review as we barrel toward our goal of publishing first a W3C Note next April and, eventually, a W3C Statement. This reflects a broader political narrative, not just grid concerns: skepticism about AI’s societal impacts, which too often gets tethered to infrastructure debates like data centers.

Nebraska’s age-appropriate design code going operative is another example of where subscription teams can get surprised: compliance is now embedded in product design choices. Defaults, notifications, targeting, engagement mechanics—things that often sit in product/growth—are increasingly being evaluated through a regulatory lens when minors are involved. By combining it with html.to.design, you can create apps, webpages, and components in Artifacts and seamlessly send them to Figma! With all the layers and autolayout intact, it's just a matter of a few clicks. 👍
