Find how you match up with jobs on LinkedIn

Last updated: 4 weeks ago

LinkedIn has created several features to help you quickly and confidently understand how qualified you are for any job posted on LinkedIn. To help save you time reading lengthy job descriptions, LinkedIn offers short and concise job match insights and summaries. Each summary explains in detail how the qualifications from your profile match up with the required and preferred qualifications on the job itself.

Premium members will receive a job match level to see how they compare against other applicants and can receive a Top Applicant rating if they have a higher chance of hearing back from the job poster.

Do recruiters/hirers see my job match level when I apply?

Hirers will not see your job match level or summary; however, we have aligned the job match levels and requirements very closely with how hirers currently evaluate talent. The qualifications represented on your profile and application will be essential to hirers. Hirers using LinkedIn’s Recruiter tool have access to advanced keyword search filters and can discover you based on the skills and experiences you list on your profile.

What information is used to calculate the job match level?

Match ratings are calculated using the information on your LinkedIn profile and the job’s required and preferred qualifications provided by the hirer as part of the job description and application screening questions. These qualifications are compared to the skills and experience on your LinkedIn profile, which then results in a rating and insight summary of how well the job description and your profile align.

How can I improve my job match level for a specific job?

Job seekers can improve their chances and job match level by updating their profile with relevant experiences, skills, and certifications.  If there are missing qualifications, job seekers can acquire these skills – through LinkedIn Learning, or other upskilling avenues – and add them to their profile to increase their match level.
