Important to know
LinkedIn's new AI-powered job search transforms the way you find new job opportunities.
Now, you can simply describe the role you want in your own words and discover jobs that match your interests, skills, and goals. AI-powered job search intelligently interprets the details and context of both your search and job descriptions posted by hirers, scanning millions of listings in milliseconds to find relevant results for you.
Here’s how to get started:
- Search in your own words. Describe the type(s) of jobs you’re looking for like you would to a friend. For example, “I want to use my marketing skills to help cure cancer.”
- Add more details to fine-tune your search. Try something like: “Show me part-time jobs in my network where I can use my marketing skills to help cure cancer.” You can also apply filters to narrow your search.
- Include a location. Find opportunities nearby or in the places you want to work.
Include more details to get better targeted results:
- The kind of job you want (job title, function, experience level, employment type, etc.)
- Where you want to work (company, industry, location, etc.)
- What skills you want to use
- Ways you can filter results (date posted, Easy Apply, under 10 applicants, jobs in my network, etc.)
Other example prompts:
- "I am looking for entry-level sales jobs in healthcare posted in the last week”
- “Fun jobs for a tech enthusiast who loves video games”
- “Show me jobs where I can make cities more walkable or bike-friendly in the United States”
How this works and improves your job search
While traditional job search often relies on exact keywords and predetermined filters to get the results you want, AI-powered job search uses Large Language Models (LLMs), fine-tuned with LinkedIn insights to interpret all the details in your search and analyze millions of employers’ job descriptions. It performs exhaustive searches in milliseconds, delivering highly relevant matches for job seekers, resulting in hirers connecting with more of the right candidates.
For example, a search for 'entry-level marketing jobs’ can surface roles like 'Marketing Coordinator' or 'Junior Marketing Associate' that require little to no experience or match beginner-level skills. The system understands that ‘entry-level’ means roles with limited years of experience requirements, even if not explicitly stated in the job description. By interpreting your search intent, we help you discover more jobs you want—including roles you may not have considered.
To help you find the best jobs we may use some member data, such as profile, job preferences, and search activity to adjust the ranking of your results.
Why am I not seeing relevant results?
This feature is designed to find jobs that best match your search query and is constantly improving to better meet your search needs. As of today, if your search is too broad or uses terms with multiple meanings, you may not get results that match exactly what you’re looking for. For instance, searching for "developer" could show software developer, web developer, or business development roles. Try adding more context to improve the accuracy and relevance of your results.
Currently, the feature does not support:
- Excluding specific jobs, companies, or job aspects from your search (e.g., “Show me healthcare jobs excluding nurse roles”).
- Searches based on your profile details (e.g., “jobs I’m qualified for” or “jobs based on my interests”).
For the best results, focus on what you want, such as your interests and experience, rather than what you don’t want.
We’re continuously working to enhance AI-powered job search to help you find the right opportunities. You can help us improve the experience by rating the relevance of your search results with a thumbs up or thumbs down.
