When you write articles on LinkedIn, you can use images, videos, and other rich media like Instagram images and tweets in the body of your article. Currently, inserting tables isn’t available.
To add a cover image to your article:

Click
Upload from computer and follow prompts to add a cover image. -
Click the
Edit icon in the Add cover image pop-up window to edit the image. -
Click Next to add the cover image.
To add a cover video to your article:

Upload from computer and follow prompts to add cover video. -
In the Add cover Image or Video pop-up window, click and follow the prompts to add captions and custom thumbnail:
Closed Caption - Add captions. Video thumbnail - Select the thumbnail image for your video.
Here's a tip
Video thumbnails are displayed in the emails sent to subscribers. Clicking on a thumbnail will redirect subscribers to the article page. -
Click Next to add the cover video.
To add rich media to your article:

From the tool bar next to your name at the top of the article, you can:
- Add Links: Click the
Link icon to paste the rich media content’s URL (For example, Tweets or Instagram images) into the Link field. - Embed content: Click the
Embed icon to embed content within the article. From here, you can copy paste respective link into the widget to embed a embed a LinkedIn post, member profile, or a LinkedIn Page. - Add Image: Click the
Media icon to upload an image from your computer or drag an image into the box. - Add Video: Click the
Media icon to upload a video from your computer or drag a video into the box. Click Closed Caption, then choose whether to toggle Add auto captions on or off. Auto-captions are currently available in 10 languages.
After uploading the video:
- You can view your uploaded videos.
- You can add closed captions, set a video thumbnail, or delete the video.

Notes:
- GIFs can no longer be used for the cover photos.
- The supported file types for cover images are JPEG, JPG, PNG, and WEBP.
- The optimal image size for the cover image is 1920 (w) x 1080 (h) pixels. Cover images are cropped to a 16:9 aspect ratio.
- We support video sharing platforms like YouTube, SlideShare, TED, Getty, Vimeo, Vine, Lifestream, and more.
- Make sure that you're including the URL (https://...) and not the embed code (< blockquote class="instagram-media"...). The URL can be found in the navigation bar at the top of your browser.
- To embed an Instagram photo, open the individual photo and copy the URL in the navigation bar.
- Images that aren’t your own should include a reference to the source of the image. The requirements for using a Creative Commons image vary depending on the image owner. Members must ensure that they follow the specified conditions.
- The supported file types for in-article images are GIF, JPEG, JPG, PNG, and WEBP.
- GIFs must be smaller than 400 frames.
