Federal policy requires a validation of
your physical address (KB00581760) as part of the unique identification of an entity. A P.O. Box, mailing service, or virtual office is
NOT sufficient for entity validation requirements, because the physical address is required to provide a physical location for the entity, which a P.O. Box does not do.
This is important for both analysis of award locations and for prevention of improper payments. For example, the physical location is a factor in uniquely identifying the entity and a factor in identifying the Congressional district in which the entity is located.
If your entity is located somewhere that does not have street addresses recognized by the U.S. Postal Service, you can still complete entity validation although it may take more time and require additional documents. Explain your challenge meeting standard validation requirements when you attach your supporting documents in SAM.gov for manual review. We will review each case individually and provide instructions via email. Once you successfully validate your entity, you can provide a mailing address during entity registration if you cannot (or prefer not to) receive mail at your physical address. The physical address is required. The mailing address is optional.
