Why Choose the College of Education at Florida Atlantic?

At Florida Atlantic University, the College of Education offers a comprehensive and forward-thinking academic experience for students pursuing careers across the full spectrum of education and human services. With five dynamic departments—Communication Sciences and Disorders, Counselor Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership and Research Methodology, and Curriculum and Instruction—the College prepares future educators, leaders, clinicians, and researchers to meet the evolving needs of schools, communities, and organizations.

Students benefit from a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including pathways in teacher preparation, curriculum design, counseling, speech-language pathology, educational leadership, and research methodology. Programs are offered across FAU’s Boca Raton, Jupiter, and Davie campuses, providing flexibility and access to multiple learning environments. You want an educational foundation that’s grounded in proven principles, yet boldly embraces new teaching innovations. The FAU College of Education has a proven record of mastering both.

The College is proud to be the first in Florida accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), affirming its commitment to excellence in educator preparation. Among Florida Atlantic’s top external grant recipients, the College consistently receives awards supporting research and training, program innovation, and community engagement.

Florida Atlantic’s university public laboratory schools serve as living laboratories for innovation in teaching and learning, offering students hands-on experience, curriculum development opportunities, and access to cutting-edge educational research. These schools span the full K–20 continuum.

The College enhances its outreach mission through the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, and the Communication Disorders Clinic. These centers provide environmental programming, free support services for individuals with autism and related disabilities, and clinical care for those experiencing communication challenges—serving both the FAU community and wider public.
