What I’m confused about – is WHERE do I write the content of my post in WP Show Posts, in order to get the post to show up on the page I’m inserting the Short code on? HOW DOES THIS WORK? Where are the instructions on HOW to write the post and insert the Short code for THAT post? HOW DOES THIS WORK? Sorry, I’m VERY Frustrated. I can’t find ANY info on WHERE to write the content of my post! Can someone PLEASE explain how this is supposed to work?
Hi Colleen,
I am just a Show Posts user, it’s a great plugin, but it is not something to write posts with.
Let me try to explain:
WP Show Posts (WPSP) is NOT the Post Editor, and you don’t write your posts in it.
It can display the LIST OF POSTS in various different ways in different places on your website.
In this way you are not limited to what your theme offers regarding how it displays posts on Blog page or in archives.
You can show your lists of posts wherever you like, and you get to chose how many posts you want to display, from which category/tag they come, if you will include images and excerpts or not, and pretty much all the other details.
So you write your posts the usual way, using the WordPress post editor.
Then you create WPSP lists to display the LIST OF POSTS as described above.
The best explanation would probably be the video here:
https://wpshowposts.com
There is a short and clear guide how WPSP works with WordPress and popular page builders here:

Hope this helps!

Hi Coleen,
It’s exactly as @vlidi mentioned( thanks vlidi. 😀 ). WPSP is a plugin to show post lists much like a blog post list. It is not for creating/writing content.
You can check the link vlidi provided. It has a video with a demo on how to configure and use WPSP.

Hi ejcabquina and vlidi
Thanks for your responses. Okay, I understand – but I watched the video – it doesn’t show a post being created and then attaching the WP Show Posts short code to it – it shows how to create the criteria for the short code. I need to know how to attach it to a post once I have created the post. Where can I find THAT information?

Ah right, the video assumes the user already knows how to create a post/page.
Creating/writing a post is a WordPress Core feature/function:
Writing Posts
Pretty similar to creating pages:
Pages
The video actually shows the “Edit post” view in Classic editor mode. In the video, you see the user pasting the shortcode on the page’s content area. That’s actually how you attach the WPSP list to a post or page.
Perhaps you have the newer, Gutenberg Editor which looks significantly different.
Here’s a demo video of copying the shortcode and inserting it to a newly created post using the newer editor, Gutenberg: https://share.getcloudapp.com/X6u921Pl
Now if you’re asking how to attach the list as a recurring display on a specific location in ALL of single post pages, that’s a completely different question.
You’ll need to hook the WPSP list on your desired theme hook location. As for what those specific hooks are, it varies depending on the theme.
I see that your site is using Palmixio theme. You’ll have to ask the theme developer on which hooks to use.
