Draft Night

Draft Night

Draft Night is an in person show in our Los Angeles space that happens Sunday nights at 9pm. It lets WGIS students do some improv with a fixed team for a month.

How It Works

We randomly select up to three teams of 8 people each on the first Thursday of the month.

Eliglibiity:

  • You must be WGIS students who are not on a current WGIS house team.
  • WGIS students mean you have taken 2 WGIS classes. Drop-ins don't count but workshops do count.
  • You also have to be there in person on the first week when we do the draft.

Sets and Times:

  • During draft week, each team does a 12 minute "Scrimmage" set -- just get a suggestion and go.
  • In the subsequent weeks we expect they'd prefer to do a simple opening and montage -- though that's up to the team and coach. The sets after the first week will be 18-20 minutes.

Coach:

  • We assign a coach who will watch each week and give notes after the sets.
  • There are NO rehearsals. The coach just watches your shows and leads a discussion after the show.

Payment:

  • We ask that each person drafted pay $15 for the month.
  • Scholarships available and easy to get - just ask one of the coaches at Draft Night
  • Draft Night is free, but if you get assigned a team, we ask you pitch in for the coach.
