Trimm: Yacht Design & Engineering
Trimm Design was founded in 2008 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, by Klaas Jan Westra and Shantia Fardin.
Their goal was to unite creativity, craftsmanship, and technical knowledge in yacht design and engineering.
What began as a small design office has grown into a Dutch yacht design and engineering company known for its precision, collaboration, and broad expertise.
In the early years, Trimm focused on yacht design and engineering for shipyards, interior builders, and private owners. As demand increased, we expanded our capabilities with naval architecture, construction engineering, and a growing interior engineering department.
This development created a complete service chain — covering exterior styling, hull design, stability, structure, and interior detailing through to CNC production preparation.
Today, a team of 50 designers and engineers works closely across all disciplines to deliver yachts that combine aesthetics, performance, and buildability. Our collaborative structure ensures that every design is technically sound and production-ready from the start.
Using advanced platforms such as AutoCAD, Siemens NX, Rhino, and TopSolid Wood, we deliver precise 2D and 3D documentation for smooth production and efficient communication with shipyards and suppliers.
Over the years, Trimm has become a trusted partner for shipyards, naval architects, casco and interior outfitters across Europe.

With over 30 dedicated interior engineers, Trimm provides flexible, scalable support — from technical layouts, box drawings, six-view or assembly drawings to full 1:2 production detailing and material coordination.
