Welcome to The Hobby Trinity!

I’m a baseball-first collector and flipper who’s getting back into sports cards the way a lot of us do—by accident, and then all at once.

I’m a husband, a dad to two boys (6 and 2), and I work a corporate job. Like most people, my time is limited, so the things I choose to spend my time and money on have to mean something. Sports always have. And for me, sports cards came back with a spark last summer when my oldest and I ripped a few boxes together—and suddenly the hobby was part of our life again.

What “The Hobby Trinity” Means

This isn’t a religious thing. It’s a simple framework I use to stay intentional in a hobby that can get expensive fast:

  • The Hobby — collecting what you love

  • The Flip — buying and selling with a plan

  • The Investment — being smart with risk, patience, and long-term value

Most of my plays are reinvested into my personal collection, which is primarily baseball—especially the Atlanta Braves and the Braves of the 90s—plus 90s stars like Ken Griffey Jr. and Derek Jeter. I also have a focused modern chase: collecting Bowman Draft refractor autos of the projected 2026 starting pitching rotation for the Atlanta Braves.

And my favorite “collection” of all? My son’s. It started with an Italian ice served in a mini baseball helmet… and him choosing the Toronto Blue Jays—“Blue Robins,” as he called them. We watched more baseball last season than I had in decades, and it reminded me what this hobby is really about: memories first.

What You’ll Get Here

The Hobby Trinity is my open notebook—real stories, real comps, real wins and losses, and the exact process I’m using to make the hobby fun and sustainable.

Expect posts about:

  • Personal collecting (my PC and my son’s PC)

  • Short-term flips (quick buys, quick exits, what moves and why)

  • Grade-and-flips (higher upside, higher risk, longer timelines)

  • Long-term holds (what I’m willing to sit on and why)

  • The sports card market in general—mostly baseball, but football and basketball when the lesson fits

Who This Is For

If you love collecting but want to be smarter with your money…
If you’re flipping to fund your PC…
If you’re returning to the hobby after a long break…
Or if you’re trying to keep the hobby fun while learning how the market actually works…

You’re in the right place.

Important Note

Nothing I write is financial advice. I’m sharing what I do with my own money for my own goals. Do your own research, know your own risk tolerance, and make your own decisions.

Welcome to The Hobby Trinity — have fun in the wax, stay sharp in the market, and let it pay you back.
