from 839 reviewsAfter years of dreaming about true high-fidelity, I decided to take the plunge and build my system around the NAD C368, retiring my trusty 20+ year old Yamaha RX-497. As I’m now in my 70s, the old ears struggle to maintain my music appreciation so I needed a big change. It has not only met but exceeded every expectation, becoming the perfect amplifier for my diverse musical tastes—from 70s/80s rock through jazz, blues, classical and on and on…
Why the C368?
I needed a versatile powerhouse. And NAD is a brand I’ve coveted for years. The C368’s 80W/ch (that feels like more), modular design (MDC), and built-in top notch DAC made it the ideal core. I added the MDC BluOS module, which unlocks superb streaming and integration.
Paired with my Totem Acoustics Rainmakers, the sound is simply stunning. The C368’s control and power let the Rainmakers shine with incredible clarity, tight bass, and a holographic soundstage. Vocals are lifelike, and complex tracks unfold with perfect separation.
My Complete Setup:
· Streaming: I use Amazon Music HD through the BluOS app—seamless and high-quality.
· Digital Library: A hard drive connected via USB to the BluOS module holds my 60,000 + song digital library. It works perfectly. And the BluOS app indexed all my music when I first connected to the C368 so now all my music easy to access. Wow, a real bonus.
· CD Playback: my old Denon DVD player acts as a dedicated CD transport, connected via coaxial to the NAD’s excellent DAC. I’ve decided to renew my CD relationship after a long time away. I had several hundred + CDs in storage so I’m bringing them back!
· Speakers: Totem Acoustics Rainmakers.
I also have my Alexa device connected to it to allow me voice interface when I want it.
No vinyl…been there done that that. Still have my turntable though. You never know…
This setup makes the C368 the ultimate hub. Whether I’m streaming from Amazon, playing a CD, or selecting a track from my personal library, the sound remains consistently detailed, powerful, and engaging.
The Verdict
The NAD C368 is the cornerstone of my all Canadian audio team. It offers exceptional sound, future-proof flexibility, and the perfect blend of modern streaming and legacy playback. Top marks for its performance and versatility.
Living the dream, as it were.
even better than expected. Best sound and quality for the money. Package looked opened but was ‘as new’ condition with the film still on the cups… if you can snap these up, don’t hesitate.
Haven't tried the product out yet. But the purchase experience with audio factory was perfect. Keep up the good work
Bought this sub to compliment my vintage PSB Stratus Mini's that are still going strong from the 80s. So far, very happy with this subwoofer and my purchase from Audio Factory. Was a great deal, and a smooth transaction. Shipping was fast and secure.
Not many new subwoofers still have speaker level inputs and outputs. This was a must for me to go with my vintage setup. Hoping this sub lives a long life, time will tell.
G. Hisey.
I came in blind to this product but after receipt I was thoroughly impressed. The fitment, the excellent hardware and the look of it assembled are above and beyond. Well done!!
This is an excellent product, the sound quality is first class. Ideally, it might be sold with its own remote. The accompanying headphones, while free, are yesterday’s product and awkward to connect to Bluetooth. Including the remote would be more helpful to those who purchase this fine speaker.
Excellent à tous points de vue. Bravo.
Excellent headphones with amazing bass and imaging. A steal at the discounted price.
The unit was received in immaculate condition and was shipped quickly. You could see it had been used only by the plastic banana plugs for A speakers had been removed. Short of that you would not be able to differentiate from a new unit. In terms of performance, it's too early to give a valid opinion, but first impressions is that it has a very good damping factor - ability to hold onto set of speakers that in some frequencies drop very low impedance and problematic phase angles. It has the reserves to do this well - one feels the muscle behind it, never struggling, even at rather high output levels - it has >500 W into 2 ohms of dynamic power and that is evident. Musically initially I would say it is quite neutral, lacks some of the warmth of some tube amps for example. It is quite revealing of source quality, rather surprisingly so.
Dirac live, I've just started with it - again, need more time for fair analysis. Easy to use however, but I think the default target curve might not be the one for me. Will seek out one of the HK versions. But, I like to get to know the base level, without DSP first, before tweaking the response curve. All in all, I feel the NAD is a very good value at the Re-Certified price. I have added the BlueOS to it, making it very easy to integrate with variety of modern sources - I personally almost exclusively use Roon. Device is Roon Ready, so that makes this completely seamless. Also nice, that it wakes up from standby, simply by starting playback from any Roon control device. You need the BlueOS app to be able to choose different sources, Dirac correction curves, etc. Unfortunately the BlueOS app then thinks it needs to tell you what song is playing and give you additional volume control through your phone, that is duplicitous if you are like me using Roon app for playback and volume control. There may be possibility to turn that off, have not researched yet.
The highs are wonderful, the mids bring this spacious soundstage...large. The are quick and punchy. The real test: listening to music for hours with pure enjoyement.
I have Sennheiser HD650’s and they are terrific, so I was not expecting much from the inexpensive on-ear NAD’s. Very pleasantly surprised, however. They sound very good, have bluetooth too (thanks for the dongle :-)) and while the HP30’s were pretty clampy, it was an easy fix by bending the metal adjustment slider just a bit.
Really like them, thanks. And the Bluesound Nano is working great with my ancient 5.1 receiver. Win-win all ‘round.
Looking for more stuff to buy, now. From Audio Factory for sure :-).
Overall very happy so far with the device setting it up was a bit tricky but not annoying so.The customer service from Audio Factory was first rate. The sound quality is very good for a portable device can play at a decent volume in a medium sized room
Needed a third Bluesound for the house for a party coming up, and this was a great opportunity.
The Nano is perfect, and works GREAT (as do the other two (a NODE 130 and an MDC one in a NAD receiver)
My ancient Home Theater setup in the basement is now connected to music, for whole house stereo. Really good products!
Oh, and the headphones are very nice too, thanks for that as well :-).
I have not yet used the ear phones. This is my third Tivoli portable . Had trouble in the past getting batteries when needed . Can you help with that ?
I decided to upgrade to the Opticon 2s from the Oberon 3s. They have a bigger soundstage and slightly more detail. If you're looking for the best speakers under $2k I believe these are what you want.
