Change your Apple Account password

Follow these steps to change your Apple Account password.

Apple ID is now Apple Account. You can still sign in with the same email address or phone number and password.

Change your Apple Account password

The easiest and most secure way to change your Apple Account password is to use your iPhone or another trusted device — one on which you've already signed in to your Apple Account using two-factor authentication, so that we know it's yours.

Change your Apple Account password on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Apple Vision Pro

  1. Tap Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security.

  2. Tap Change Password.

  3. Enter your current password or device passcode, then enter a new password and confirm the new password.

  4. Tap Change.

Change your Apple Account password on your Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click [your name].

  2. Click Sign-In & Security.

  3. Click Change Password. Before you can change your Apple Account password, you’ll be required to enter the password used to unlock your Mac.

Change your Apple Account password on the web

The Apple Account website redirects you to a trusted device to manage your Apple Account, when possible. But if you don't have a trusted device, you might be able to change your Apple Account password on the web:

Go to account.apple.com and sign in to your Apple Account. Then go to Sign-In and Security and choose Password.

Change your child’s Apple Account password using your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro

If you have an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro with the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or visionOS and two-factor authentication turned on for your Apple Account, you can change the Apple Account password for a child account in your Family Sharing group.

  1. Tap Settings > Family > your child’s account.

  2. Tap Apple Account & Password.

  3. Tap Change [Child’s Name] Password.

  4. Enter your device passcode and follow the onscreen instructions.
