I am a Professor in the Machine Learning Group at the University of Tromsø (UiT) – The Arctic University of Norway. I am working on the development of deep learning algorithms that learn in the presence of limited labeled data and their explainability.
In the past, I have had long-term research stays at the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University, working with Eric P. Xing, and the Berlin Center for Machine Learning at the Technical University of Berlin, working with Klaus-Robert Müller.
Besides the development of label-efficient deep learning methods, my research interests also extend to learning from multi-modal data, medical image analysis, and remote sensing.
