    On February 15, 2024, Al-Salam and Al-Hurriya Organization / Kirkuk Office, in cooperation with the Total Quality Management Department at the Kirkuk Governorate Diwan, conducted an advocacy session on “Environmental Desertification,” with the participation of several officials and representatives of relevant government entities.

  • Initiative: “Together Towards Peace”
    During the period 21–27 January 2026, the Voluntary Social Cohesion Committee of the Peace and Freedom Organization, in cooperation with the Volunteer Humanity Leaders Team, implemented an initiative entitled “Together Towards Peace.” The initiative included a series of dialogue sessions that brought together religious leaders and media professionals to assess the state of social peace and to develop practical strategies to reduce hate speech and strengthen social cohesion in Kirkuk Governorate.

  • Return to Sinjar: The Yazidi Community’s Journey Home and the Challenges Ahead
    On January 23, 2024, the Council of Ministers of the Iraqi Government adopted a decision to close all internally displaced persons (hereafter referred to as IDP) camps in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (hereafter referred to as KRI) by July 31, 2024. According to the Government of Iraq (hereafter referred to as GoI), this decision is intended to encourage the safe and voluntary return of IDPs to their places of origin, as part of a broader policy to end displacement in Iraq, including the KRI.

    “Workers Rights and Freedom of Association” is a joint project run by PFOK and NPA in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The project, which has an implementation period of four years, began in July 2016. A number of researchers from PFOK have conducted a study of the project between July and December of 2016. By using a mixed methods approach, this study tries to reveal the workers’ conditions and the freedom of association and unions in a legal and social framework.
