The Challenge

AURA is a global leader in on-demand emergency response technology. Their platform aggregates the largest network of vetted private security and medical responders, offering instant protection via a simple tap.

Our mission was to design the software that powers this network, bridging the gap between panicked end-users, active responders on the move, and the specialized teams who manage them.

The Aura Ecosystem

AURA People Protect

For the end-user, the interface must disappear in the moment of need. We designed the White Label App with a focus on “panicked-state” UX, using bold UI, minimal complexity, and guided flows.

By prioritizing the primary SOS action, we ensured that getting help for security, medical, or roadside emergencies is immediate and frictionless.

AURA Property Protect

To support AURA’s Property Protect offering, we developed a Dynamic Task Configuration module within the Customer Portal. This “backend” engine allows clients to define exactly what a responder receives on their app when attending a specific site.

By configuring titles, descriptions, and status-driven multiple-choice options, clients ensure that responders follow a rigorous, verified workflow—including mandated media and note uploads for high-quality reporting.

Supplier & Customer Portals

Managing a global responder network requires precision and oversight. We designed the Supplier and Customer Portals to handle complex scheduling and site configurations.

These platforms utilize sophisticated Dashboards and Data Tables to transform high volumes of information into actionable insights, all while maintaining the “clean and calm” aesthetic of the wider Aura suite.

The Control Centre

The Control Centre is the critical link ensuring users feel supported throughout an emergency. We designed a high-utility platform that allows operators to manage incoming callouts, monitor responders, and maintain direct end-user communication. From this hub, operators can manage conference calls, view user details, and seamlessly transfer calls. The platform also features Robust Filtering for broadcast messaging, allowing for precise communication with the responder network.

The Responder App

Responders operate in high-pressure environments where information overload is a risk. We solved this through Progressive Disclosure.

The UI prioritizes navigation until the responder enters a specific radius of the emergency. Only then are crucial details; such as site access codes or sensitive medical information; revealed. This ensures the responder remains focused on the road while having the right data the moment they arrive.

To drive engagement and retention within the responder network, we designed an integrated Personal Dashboard within the app. This feature provides responders with a transparent view of their performance, including total time on duty and successfully accepted callouts. For independent responders, the dashboard includes a real-time earnings tracker, transforming raw data into a powerful incentive that encourages active participation and high performance within the AURA ecosystem.

Modular Website

To support AURA’s expansion into international markets, we developed a system of Dynamic Website Templates. We crafted a modular design language that allows different regions to build and launch their own localized web presence while maintaining brand consistency.

This flexible framework ensures that whether a user is in South Africa or the UK, the experience remains premium, reliable, and unmistakably AURA.

Colours

While many security tools use high-alert colors, we chose a palette of Calm Blues and Positive Magentas. This strategic choice helps de-escalate the user’s stress level and projects a sense of professional reliability, differentiating AURA as a modern, human-centric safety brand.

Functional colours

We implemented a functional colour system to categorise the variety of services AURA offers. We assigned distinct, high-contrast colours to specific response types. This colour-coding ensures that both operators and responders can identify the nature of a callout instantly, reducing cognitive load when every second counts.

Typography

Our tailored design approach prioritizes user experience in both light and dark modes, with carefully crafted color palettes that extract the unique benefits of each. Dark mode features a sleek, muted color scheme that reduces eye strain, while Light mode offers rich contrast for a bright, inviting atmosphere. Our goal is to provide an optimal experience for all users, regardless of their preference for light or dark mode.

The Conclusion

The result is a sophisticated, multi-platform ecosystem that integrates with everything from premium Samsung devices to global Logistics and Insurance platforms.

Through an ongoing collaboration with the AURA team, we have delivered a suite of products that move beyond simple technology.
