Mutual Aid Canada

We are Mutual Aid Canada, a group of citizens committed to the redistribution of resources and meeting the basic needs of others. What is Mutual Aid? It is an act of solidarity between individuals that builds better sustainable networks of care as opposed to the institutions and systems currently available to us. The act of Mutual Aid has been practiced between communities since our existence - providing for one another in a way that ensures everyone in the community is cared for whether that's through the sharing of food, clothing, shelter or monetary resources; it works cooperatively to meet the needs of everyone in the community and beyond.​Mutual Aid Canada receives financial requests from individuals, which are then shared via Instagram, Facebook and on our website. We focus on requests from racialized and marginalized demographics within so-called Canada. Our work is rooted in anti-racism, anti-colonialism, pro-2SLGBTQIA+, anti-capitalism, anti-ableism and dismantling all the ways white supremacy oppresses in our communities. So far in 2023 alone, we have been able to redistribute $34,490 to those that need it simply by a small team of dedicated, unpaid community organizers.Currently, we have over 57 requests for funds totalling over $150,000. The requests keep coming. We need your support.We are asking you to take a pledge of monthly financial support so that these requests can be met quicker, changing people’s lives for the better. Your regular, consistent contribution shows your commitment to change, and encourages others to do the same. When we contribute to mutual aid, we are doing what charity can never do: empowering individuals, transforming the societies we live in, and being accountable to one another.To invite you into our work, we have built this Patreon where you can choose how much you would like your monthly pledge to be. Lastly, we know the biggest resource we have is people, and that their creativity and ideas will always amaze us.
