The Student Organization of Undergraduate Playwrights (S.O.U.P) is Ohio University’s only student-run playwriting organization. Founded in 2007 by eleven inspired artists, S.O.U.P’s goal was to make playwriting accessible to OU students from all majors. Today, the organization continues that goal, providing a creative outlet to theatre and non-theatre majors alike.
Every Month, S.O.U.P members gather to pitch and vote on prompts that will lay the foundation for the final show. Throughout that month we write and workshop, then perform our shows at the end of the month.
We aim to create a safe and welcoming community for all undergraduate students who are interested in playwriting regardless of their major or past experience. We work to build an open minded community and safe space within the OU community for students to embrace their artistic side, learn more about the art of playwriting and theatre production, and create a space for self expression.
