Nathan Juarez is a dynamic percussionist, vocalist, composer, and educator originally from West Texas. His creative vision thrives in combining his talents to create and perform music that captivates and connects with a variety of audiences. He has appeared in a wide range of solo and group settings with recent international performances featuring his compositions Tessellation and Erlkönig in Lliria, Spain, along with performances with the Eugene Symphony, Eugene Opera, Yakima Symphony, Orchestra Nova Northwest, Oregon Mozart Players, Orchestra Next, Amarillo Symphony, and the Honor Band of America. He is a sought after composer with commissions including Clouds of Light, for wind ensemble, and Dipteran, for tenor saxophone and percussion duet.
As an educator, Nathan has worked with students of all ages teaching in both private and group settings across West Texas and Oregon. He currently teaches as a Graduate Employee in Percussion at the University of Oregon and often brings his skills as a composer into the classroom, creating and arranging music tailored to a variety of learning environments.
Nathan is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Percussion Performance and a Master’s in Music Theory at the University of Oregon. He previously earned a Master of Music in percussion performance from the same institution, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition and Education from West Texas A&M University. He’s a proud member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and the Percussive Arts Society.
