Promised and Pursued by L.C. Petra

Happy Release Day on 12/11/2025!! This is L.C. Petra's debut, and unfortunately, I didn't love it as much as I had hoped I would. There were a lot of good elements, but there were more bad - enough that this is the may be third book I DNF'd in 2025.  I absolutely hate that I can't bring myself to give this 4 stars. I made sure when I started this book that I kept in mind that this was a debut novel for this author, and it helped me get through it as much as I could. I promised an honest review, and so - I will give one.  Before I say why I DNF'd this book at 47%, I do want to say that if it weren't for a couple things, I would have definitely enjoyed it more. I love the Viking and norse mythology aspects of the story, the overarching plot is interesting, and the characters are easy to love and to hate. This has A LOT of potential to be an amazing story, it really does. I love that the author infused her story with this one, and I hope she forgives me for the ne...

Reading Updates - 12/09/2025

Hello there and Welcome!! I caught up on some ARCs and their reviews - here are my favorite for the week. Well, needless to say I am ABSOLUTELY in my cowboy era, they're my favorite books to read between my romantasy series that I somehow get dragged into. Duke is the first book I ARC read in this series, but I had read the three previous books in this spicy interconnected series. The Rivers brothers are quite swoon-worthy, and honestly - if I didn't know better I would be moving across the country and find myself a rancher. Unfortunately, these cowboys only exist in fiction, but that's perfectly okay. You can't get disappointed by a fictional character. Well, technically you can but I digress. Duke by Jessica Peterson is the fourth installment of her Lucky River Ranch series, which starts with the brother Cash. Duke is Rivers brother, and one of the twins. He meets Wheeler in the first book, and there are some hints throughout the other books about something going on ...

The Intuitive Series by E.Y. Kelley

I received this series as ARCs, and I regret not having read them sooner. It took me getting a week and a half of vacation to tackle a lot of my TBR. This series though was one of my favorites and still is a favorite. As soon as I get paid I will be buying physical copies as shelf trophies. So, let's dive in. The first book in this series is called "The Lies We Tell". In this book we start to meet a majority of our characters. The entire series so far is from Lexi's POV, so you're learning things and watching everything through her. So you definitely feel her frustration when EVERYONE keeps leaving important facts out or just not telling her period. A lot of problems could have been solved if people would just be clear with her from the get go - instead something happens - she tells someone, and they're like "Oh yeah, about that...". It took me a minute to get into this book because it does throw you right into the thick of things, but I got pulled ...

Nisha J. Tuli

I'm doing a post specifically for all the Nisha love I have at the moment. In the beginning, and by that I mean sometime earlier this year, I had dove into the Artefacts of Ouranos series. It had been on my TBR for a while, and I was looking for a new series to read (this was before I started ARC reading) - I was hooked. Not just "oh this is enjoyable", it was "I can't stop reading this, screw being a responsible adult. I am not stopping until I get to the end, even for sleep". At that point it was only the first three, and for anyone who has read the series and has gotten to the end of the Sun King, you know how much of a hell of an ending that one has. That was probably one of my most reactive responses to a cliffhanger thus far. It was brutal and she didn't even have the next one finished yet. However, with some patience, and neglecting work at 2 pm to get on NetGalley and refresh the heck out of my page - I got super lucky and ended up with an ARC o...

Not that anyone ever comes here and reads what I put, I have a lot of catching up to do for myself so I don't lose track of things. Work has been killing me slowly but I just binged the heck out of some books the past couple of days with more on the way.  Expect a lot from me over the next couple of weeks as I read to my hearts content on vacation! Also, I feel like I've been apologizing a lot lately because my work schedule cut into my ARC time, but I'm working on the backlog. Hopefully this will be resolved when I will do nothing but sit on the beach and read. 1. Her Forbidden Flesh by Airika Phoenix I wanted to see what the interest in Dark Romance was that I've been seeing lately. So, when the opportunity arose to ARC read this one, I jumped on it. I have no regrets. This book was spicy and made me wish I had a Rhys in my life cause ...damn. Reading these books makes a girl realize some things about herself she doesn't know beforehand, like how much she wants a...

I want to start by saying that I really love Emilia Hart's writing style, it is very unique and I usually can't put it down once the story gets going. I absolutely loved her first book Weyward, so I had high expectations for the Sirens, which I was excited that I had received an ARC for. The Sirens was written very similarly to Weyward in the fact that it is very related/parallel stories that take the reader back and forth in time until the end where they finally overlap (not literally) and things click into place.  That's usually my favorite part in her work, when things finally click into place. This one felt like it took longer to get there, but when it did, it was great. I'll be honest though and say, I did not like this book as much as the first one, but it is still a good read. It is very female character based, but there's just something about the character Lucy that I don't like. It feels like her character hit the mark, and it made the first part of t...

Review - Immortal by Sue Lynn Tan

Image
There have only been a few times where I get so excited about receiving an ARC of a book that I'm speechless and near tears, this was one of those cases. I apologize in advance to other authors I ARC read for, I love you guys too but some authors I have loved for years and only recently started doing this. So when I get access to their works before they are released, I get emotional. Off track too apparently, this is supposed to be a review! First things first - this cover!!!! I love the covers for everything Sue Lynn Tan has written, but this one is my favorite. It is gorgeous and will look amazing on my shelf when I get the physical copy (pre-ordered as soon as it was available). Sue Lynn Tan is one of my favorite authors (it's a long list but still). Her world building and plots are always amazing, and I love the additions of her favorite stories and myths from growing up in her work. It makes everything she writes unique in the fantasy genre, and I love it. This book is n...
