Ombudsman Training

Training for Ombudsman staff and volunteers is critical for maintaining an effective long-term care Ombudsman program. The National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center develops and collects materials and information that enhance and strengthen the training of paid and volunteer Ombudsman program representatives.

Materials included in this section have been either developed by the Center or have been shared with the Center by Ombudsman programs.

Ask NORC About Providing Training for Your Program

Do you need a presenter for your state conference or training for your Ombudsman program representatives? Contact NORC! NORC can provide training on a variety of topics for Ombudsman programs, virtually or in-person.

Review the list below for potential training topics. If a topic you need isn’t listed let us know. NORC will cover the cost of the trainer's time (programs are asked to help with travel expenses, as applicable).

Submit training requests at least two months prior for a virtual event, or three months prior for an in-person event, so NORC can determine availability.

Please send your training requests to ombudcenter@theconsumervoice.org
