Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov is in trouble. His work is banned, and the Soviet censors are closing in until an unexpected phone call from Stalin turns his world upside down.


This is a darkly comic tale about power, obsession, and the price of being heard. Obsessed with recognition and freedom, Bulgakov drifts into an increasingly absurd fantasy world while his wife struggles to keep him anchored to reality.


New international theatre company Throughline presents the first UK staging of Love Letters to Stalin since 1998, in a brand new translation. In a world where politics often feels like theatre, this is a fast, absurd, and unsettling reminder of what happens when art and authority collide.

At Through Line we aim to connect creatives from all backgrounds to share often-overlooked foreign language works rooted in our collective human experience.

Founded by drama school graduates who trained on British classics, we hold deep respect for these works, while recognising how many of our own cultural identities went unspoken in those rooms.

Our mission is to uncover and uplift the extraordinary works and writers that shape us but are rarely seen on UK stages. 

We do this by creating new adaptations of foreign classics, reimagining English-language works through fresh lenses, and embracing voices from every background.

Barış (aka Baz) is a London-based actor from Istanbul, trained at Central.

Having lived between cultures, he’s drawn to work in the grey areas where chaos isn’t avoided but embraced, so that something alive can actually emerge.

At Through Line, he wants to build a place for artists who aren’t satisfied with easy narratives. A place to question habits, tastes, and stories we keep telling ourselves.

Baris Apaydin

Klaudia is an actress, originally from the north of Spain, and a 2024 graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She is also a keen mover, having grown up dancing.

She is a lover of Spanish cinema (and an unapologetic Pedro Almodóvar fanatic).

Klaudia hopes Through Line will be a space where artists can discover more about themselves, their individuality, and the full range of their creative potential.

Luca is a huge A-list actor who is passionate about black holes. His
family heritage roots all the way back to Eataly Liverpool Street.

A Royal Central graduate, wannabe Martin Scorsese, who moved to
London to make his fortune in hospitality.

He’s looking forward to going THROUGH all of his LINEs and most
of all seeing the company grow and develop with future exciting
projects and creatives.
