Access Islands Map
Access Islands Map
Largest access islands in England (over 500m2). Areas of Access Land (CRoW 2000) which have no legal public right of way access via footpath or highway (which are beyond 15m of these features). We also removed any potential access islands which fall within National Nature Reserves (NNR), Local Nature Reserves (LNR), within 100m of the coast, National Trust access sites and Forestry England estate land (freehold and leasehold), on the assumption that these would be accessible (although in practice this is not always the case, especially for FC land). Access islands within urban extent have also been discounted. NB: This is a cautious analysis which we know has missed out many access islands although may have also included some which shouldn't be here. If you spot any anomalies please do get in touch at lewis@righttoroam.org.uk About the Right to Roam campaign: https://www.righttoroam.org.uk/

Why We Roam - Tell Us Your Story
Why We Roam - Tell Us Your Story
We're gathering stories, reflections, and reasons, big or small, that capture what access to nature means to you. This isn't just about walking paths. It's about freedom, connection, memory, healing, and joy.Tell us why you support the Right to Roam. Tell us what you have lost and what you stand to gain. Tell us the stories of your past and the hopes for your future. This is your place to share your story with us, and become a part of our campaigns voice. We would then like to feature some of these quotes and stories on our platforms.
