The first time I sat in Gemini G.E.L. co-founder Sidney Felsen’s office—nestled modestly within the striking Frank Gehry structure on Melrose Avenue—he gave me a gold star. Surrounded by wall-to-wall photographs of artists at work and the most colored pencils I’d seen in one place, Sidney held out his hand, offering me a jumbo-sized cardboard star, and with it, a job.
