#poetrymeetsbeats is a joint project by spoken word artist and poet Marco Michalzik and producer and musician Manuel Steinhoff. What began as a spontaneous jam session at a live event has now developed into a ten-year collaboration, resulting in the album Ikarus and the EP series Die gerade Linie ist gottlos (The Straight Line is Godless), among other things. The ten tracks on Die gerade Linie ist gottlos were initially released on four separate EPs throughout 2025. Based on the eponymous quote by Austrian artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the pieces explore human existence – sometimes personal, sometimes socially critical, sometimes theological – and always carried by the electronic sound and beat worlds of Manuel Steinhoff, who, in addition to composing and producing, played and programmed all the instruments and is also responsible for the project's artwork.
