Ongoing Research
My current research connects clinical and laboratory immunology, focusing on childhood TB diagnosis through sputum induction and exploring immune phenotype and cytokine biomarkers. Our work combines cellular immunology and clinical approaches to improve the diagnosis of childhood tuberculosis while building the capacity of clinicians to implement sputum induction within primary, secondary and tertiary hospitals.

Future Collaboration

Looking ahead, my goal is to establish an independent research program focused on infection immunology, diagnostics, and therapeutics, including vaccine development. Specifically, I plan to pursue four interlinked directions:
•	Development of rapid immunodiagnostic tools leveraging insights into host immune markers to design point-of-care diagnostics that can improve case detection in resource-limited settings.
•	Adjunctive therapeutics from local resources, investigating the immunomodulatory and antimicrobial potential of locally available plant extracts as part of shorter, more effective TB treatment regimens.
•	Immunology of co-infections and chronic immune activation, exploring how TB interacts with other infections (HIV, malaria, helminths) and how persistent immune activation may predispose to non-communicable diseases.
•	Identify vaccine candidates for vaccine development in infectious diseases in Africa.
