Hypnacoteca operates at the convergence of architectural design, acoustic research, and consciousness studies through its dual focus on built environments and perceptual documentation. The initiative's flagship project, Hypnacoteca Maravalhas, was completed in 2023 by CO-arquitetos in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This residential case study implements modular construction techniques and passive climate control systems while drawing from regional architectural heritage. The project's digital component exists as an open-source sound archive within Coletivo Vaga-Lume, collecting and cataloging hypnagogic audio phenomena. This database serves academic researchers in neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy, while providing architects and designers with documented examples of sensory-spatial relationships. The archive particularly emphasizes sustainable material applications and their effects on occupant perception. Hypnacoteca's research methodology combines physical architectural prototyping, environmental monitoring, and systematic documentation of subjective experiences. The initiative maintains partnerships with scientific institutions, design firms, and cultural organizations to expand its documentation of built case studies. Its findings are publicly accessible through an online platform that integrates architectural drawings, material specifications, and recorded perceptual data.
