We investigated the effect of carbon taxes on innovation using patent data in the transport sector in Sweden. By applying a synthetic control method and triple difference estimator, we found suggestive evidence for a positive effect.

I analyzed the 1994 paper by Scott Barrett on self-enforcing environmental agreements, coded a numerical simulation to recreate his theoretical results, and extrapolated the findings to evaluate recent approaches of emission abatement.
