davon cecil is a storyteller from the heart of Kentucky with a newfound home on the South Side of Chicago. Despite his volatile upbringing, he’s taken intentional leaps of faith. His passion, tenacity, and purpose have gained him acceptance into highly competitive programs such as the Nate Parker Foundation Summer Film Institute, the Inaugural Impact MENtorship class, and now attending USC’s School of Cinematic Arts Writing for Screen & Television program. His first narrative short film, Taraji, was selected as a 2025 XL Film Festival Official Selection, SAGindie Film Music Connect Shorts Competition winning film, YWCA Choice Award Winner at the Ohio Valley Festival for Filmmakers of Color, and most recently selected for the MY HERO International Film Festival. davon’s primary mission is to develop visual tapestries that authentically represent the everyday person by harnessing his lived experiences to tell stories of today for those who live tomorrow, with intention…
