INCUS scientific team celebrates upcoming mission, launch
The CSU-led NASA mission INCUS, set to launch in 2026, is ahead of schedule and under budget despite a challenging year marked by partner layoffs, the Eaton fire, and a federal shutdown. Led by University Distinguished Professor Sue van den Heever, INCUS will deploy three satellites to study how tropical storms form and why some evolve into extreme weather. The mission will provide the first-ever estimates of convective mass flux, advancing understanding of major weather events such as hurricanes, floods, and tornado outbreaks.
