Why are we talking about the state budget?

The state budget dictates how our agencies are funded, how many employees an agency can hire, and how large a slice of pie we can get when it comes time for MAPE to negotiate a contract.

If agencies have a larger budget, we can get paid more, we can hire more, and we can do more for our fellow constituents.

By attending caucus and convention of the party you most align with. Our goal is to have 3000 MAPE represented workers to show up on caucus night to demand your party and candidates to commit to the Working People's Agenda.

While MAPE is still ironing out the details, it will center around:

1. Livable wages that keep up with inflation.
2. Give all workers more time for the things we love.
3. Invest in the public good.

What is a caucus?

Your precinct caucus is a political subdivision made up of your most immediate neighbors, this can vary in size. On caucus night, there are two main orders of business:

1. Voting on resolutions that attendees want to be included in their party's platform.
2. Electing delegates to endorsing conventions.

When and where is my precinct caucus?

Caucus night is Tuesday. February 3, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. The Secretary of State will post locations for your precinct's caucus location once the date gets closer.

What does a delegate do?

Accepted Answer

If you are elected to be a delegate by your precinct (usually as easily as volunteering to be one), then you will go to the Senate District Convention to vote on resolutions, endorse candidates for State House and State Senate, and elect delegates to your party's State Convention.

Why does becoming a delegate matter?

Senate District and State delegates are able to affects change in two important ways:

1. Before the Senate District and State Conventions, delegates will get calls from candidates, asking what matters to them and try to earn their vote.
2. Delegates can vote - or withhold their vote - for candidates endorsements, and convince others in the room to do the same. This means that if a candidate won't commit to fully-funding state agencies, they may not get their party's endorsement, making it harder for them to raise campaign money or get elected.

What is MAPE's goal?

Our goal is for 3,000 MAPE represented workers to attend Precinct Caucuses with the party they're most aligned AND become delegates to the Senate District endorsing conventions.

These 3,000 will work together to send 300 MAPE represented workers to the State endorsing conventions.

Together, we'll bring a Working People's Agenda that includes priorities like livable wages that keep up with inflation and investments in public good.
