A full FOMO of Westknits MKAL 2023 is on a roll and I joined in with my interpretation of a colorful gradient: choose your hand dyed yarn it for your unique GEOGRADIENT shawl! Use it for this year's MKAL or any other project requiring yarn color gradients. Hold double for DK weight. Yarn bases are slightly different: GREEN & RED KIT: Yarn quality: Merino 70% Silk 30% Yardage: 400m in 100g per skein, fingering weight yarn NEUTRAL BEIGE KIT: Yarn quality: Merino 60% Alpaca 20% Silk 20% Yardage: 460m in 115g Fabulous yarn base: BKD Dream - This is an absolute dream of a Merino mixed with Alpaca and Silk yarn base. The colors have a slight sheen and Alpaca gives a slight halo, like a cloud around your project. Absolutely beautiful base! You will receive 400g or in the case of the neutral kit: 46og of hand-dyed yarn gradient.

Algorithmic Diva Bollero is an epic knitting pattern for a smart and talented knitter! Stephanie is using algorithmic software to create simple knitting stitches (mostly a combination of purl and knit) and unorthodox shapes, thereby transcending an ancient technique into a digital age. By breaking usually repetitive knitting patterns into a set of charted non-repeats that give the piece an android, digital look, Stephanie is translating the soft, human, meditative craft of knitting into the realm of computational science and back: reducing it to a human scale, so that the knitting itself is simpler than it seems at the first sight! This allows us to see and enjoy our skill from the new perspective and to put knitting into a different context, somewhere between science, art and craft, in a new cyber-punk era. Hand-dyed sock yarn, BKD Twist Sock consists of a lustrous Bluefaced Leicester Fiber with a touch of nylon for sturdiness, bounce, and longevity. This is my preferred sock yarn. Yarn Quality: 80% sw BFL 20% nylon 365m in 100 gr NEEDLES: Knit on 2-2.5mm needles for long-lasting fabulously soft socks. One skein gives two short socks, for longer socks please purchase two skeins. This yarn is sturdy, soft, and a real powerhouse for any project. You can knit hats, shawls, cardigans, or anything your heart wishes, single or double, on any needle size. The choice is yours, but take time to check your gauge. This is essential. COLORS: All colors are dyed by me in layers to give them shade and depth using a special method I developed in my home studio in Berlin. Each skein of hand-dyed yarn is unique, it is hardly possible to replicate the process fully, even when established and repetitive. Therefore, I suggest ordering bigger quantities from the same dye lot (listed skeins) or contacting me before ordering, if you need bigger quantities.STABILITY: I dye yarn with professional colors that I mix to a certain ratio for a particular tone, fade, or nuance in my studio. These colors are proven and stable over a longer period of time, even after washing. However, be aware that all colored garments, even the industrial ones, fade with time, so some changes are expected, depending on how you care for your garment and how often you wash it and wear it. BLEEDING: I wash my yarn extensively to avoid bleeding but stay aware it may bleed slightly after the first washings until the color is fully exhausted. CARE: Sock yarn is machine washable. However, to protect it, wash it as little as possible and air it after every wear.

Hand-dyed merino yarn in DK weight and superb quality, slightly thicker than usual DK yarn, very soft and durable hand-dyed yarn. A luxury yarn of choice for baby knits and baby blankets, but also knit accessories that are worn next to the skin, like Westknits shawls or other fashion knitwear. Suitable for patterns by Andrea Mowry, Westknits, Jojilocat, Anne Ventzel and more. Quality: Merino superwash 100% Yardage: 230m (252yd) in 115g

Hand-dyed merino bouclé yarn, DK weight boucle yarn hand dyed in Berlin, Germany. Beautifully fluffy for fashion knitwear and accessories. Jonna Hietala from Laine Magazine and Veera Välimäki create beautiful knitting patterns with this yarn, and some patterns are or will be available in my BKD Yarn Shop, but you can substitute any DK pattern with the BKD Merino Bouclé for adding the fashion look. NEEDLES: Knit on 5-6mm knitting needles, or go for bigger ones, for that modern, airy look. All wool can be knitted on all needles. The choice is yours, but take time to check your gauge. Therefore, I hand wash my knitted garments with a sprinkle of the wool washer. Generally, wool does not require extensive washing as the smell does not hold on to the wool fiber. Therefore it is enough to wash it as little as possible, once a year or less, and to air it after every wearing. BKD Merino Singles is a classis amongst hand dyed yarn. Merino is superwash treated and has a slight single-ply twist that allows it to take up color beautifully in layers and when speckled gives sharp, defined speckles. It is also very soft to the skin, making it suitable for baby, children clothing, shawls and items worn next to the skin. If handwashed and layed to dry, this yarn keeps its color and shape, with little pilling.
