Amidst the Tokyo underground, Shizuka Miura was a spectral figure, creating ghostly, childlike dolls and writing haunting, other-worldly songs. She formed Shizuka in 1992 with Maki Miura, known for his guitar work in Fushitsusha and Les Rallizes Dénudés. Black Editions presents Shizuka's sole studio album, 1994’s Heavenly Persona, originally issued by P.S.F. Japan on CD in 1994; Newly remastered, first vinyl edition on double LP with laser etched side. Deluxe tip-on tri-fold jacket.

Alan Licht returns to VDSQ with Havens, a sprawling 2LP set of guitar-based compositions forged from the myriad possibilities arising when strings collide with electricity & space. Licht is masterful in his negotiation of the often-unknowable intersections that exist between juxtaposing strands of sound. In the second year of his 27 year tenure at Bennington College (1968-1995) composer and musician Bill Dixon penned a letter to the composer / philosopher John Cage perhaps the preeminent music and art theorist of the time. Dixon's letter was written in response to Cage's recently published book Notations. It is transcribed here from a draft found in the Bill Dixon archives now housed at NYU. Dixon had organized the historic 1964 October Revolution in Jazz , founded the Jazz Composer's Guild in
