Utrechtse muziekliefhebbers kennen misschien het online radiostation Stranded FM, maar Utrecht heeft nóg een organisatie die muziek uitzendt: Birdcage Radio. Birdcage is echter meer dan alleen een Twitch-kanaal waar muziek uitvloeit. Sinds oktober 2021 heeft het dj- en kunstenaarscollectief een plekje in Vechtclub Kanaleneiland. Daar hebben ze 170m2 met boven de dj-booth en een zithoekje, en beneden een kunstatelier, oefenruimte voor bands en vier opnamestudio’s. Door de gietende regen gingen we langs voor een kopje koffie met Nicolas van Dedem en Rochelle Dietz, de oprichters van Birdcage Radio die er fulltime mee bezig zijn.
