Based in Belgium, Aifoon investigates urban acoustic environments through site-specific sound installations and public performances. The artist's Exterioor project has activated spaces in Sint-Niklaas, Dendermonde, and Ghent through collaborations with local musicians and community participants. These interventions focus on revealing and recontextualizing the existing sonic characteristics of each location. The ongoing GELUID VAN DE STAD audio walk series documents city soundscapes across Belgium, mapping both historical and contemporary acoustic signatures. Each walk traces how infrastructure, architecture, and human activity patterns have shaped the sonic identity of specific urban sites. The series combines field recordings, archival research, and location-based audio technologies to create self-guided sonic explorations. Aifoon's practice integrates sound art methodologies with cultural research and community engagement frameworks. Working at the convergence of music reproduction systems, environmental acoustics, and participatory performance, the artist develops projects that examine how urban spaces are experienced and understood through sound. This research manifests through installations, guided walks, and collaborative performances that highlight overlooked acoustic phenomena.
