Atelier Architecture

I am so excited to share my admiration for Black music & history under Atelier Architecture. In celebration of Howard Homecoming turning 100, I curated 5 playlists — 20 songs for each couple of decades — ranging from 1924 to 2024. I watched documentaries, spent hours in @howard1867 digital archives, more hours with @taylorveli in Northwestern’s archives lol and, of course, leaned on first-hand experiences for half of the decades. My brilliant, talented friend @jdpillustration provided the timeless cover art for each playlist & my first friend at Howard and fellow ethnomusicologist, @thebrookswelch + @thesoulsugarjoint collaborated with me on the 60s & 70s list. Each playlist is ordered by release date. <3
